I was just looking at Amazon for a crate. There are so many sizes. According to dogbreedinfo.com AID's should be between 17"-20" and 30-60 lbs depending on whether it is a male or female.

They are classified as a med size dog. I would just look at med size stuff but you know how sometimes med in one brand can be like a small in another and it just doesn't fit?

I looked at beds for dogs size med-lrg and crates that were 36L X 25W X 28H.

What size crates and beds do you use for your dogs (inches/small, med, lrg)?

How big are the adult dogs here?(weight/ length from base of tail to tip of nose/height from feet to top of head)

Any input would be helpful.

If you are planning on crate training a pup, you'll have to start off with a small crate. The idea is to give them enough room to be comfortable, but make it small enough that they will not want to soil it. We used 3 different crates for Danza; the last one (which she still sleeps in, she loves it so much) had an adjustable back.

The males and females differ in size a fair amount. Danza is on the small side for a female, but there is a lot of variation from dog to dog. She is 34 pounds - I've never measured her.

Plastic airline carriers are fine, as are the wire crates. I've used both, and my dogs have liked them both just fine.

Yeah. The crates I was looking at were wire with a room divider for the puppy months. I just want to make sure I get the right size for when it is an adult. I don't want to buy more than one crate. Do you think the 36" one will be long enough?

I think the 36" crate will be plenty big enough. I'm away from home. so I can't measure mine, but that sounds about right. We bought just one, and it was about that size. It was very roomy at first, but Lola grew into it quickly. She never soiled it, and it was a great tool. Lola tolerates the crate if we put her in it, but she has never taken to it voluntarily like many of the dogs on this forum, and she only uses it when we are traveling now. Lola is 8 months old, and is about 37lbs and about 20 inches tall. I don't expect her to grow much more, but we'll see.
If I were you, I would try to get the crate from a local pet store. I doubt the price will be much different, and you can easily exchange it if you get it home and it doesn't work out (as we did) Just my two cents.

Thanks Jerry! I appreciate the response. I will check my local pet stores.

The ones I found were on Amazon and they were pretty cheap. I saw some dog beds in the Cabelas magazine and holy crap were they EXPENSIVE! The beds online were between $25-$50 for a med-large dog. The crate was around the same for the 36". The beds in the cabelas catalog were $80+. No thanks.

I think we paid about $60 for our plastic crate and about $20 for a bed at Petco. We were traveling in Washington at he time when Kim called us and told us we could stop by and pick up a puppy on our way home (that call made our x-mas very merry indeed). So, we didn't have the opportunity to shop around.
We normally buy all our pet supplies at the local privately owned pet store. They're great, and they sell on line as well.
