Hi Allison, I am a new AI member and I am #16 on Kim's waiting list. I am trying to figure out how to use this forum but I am having a hard time - I have tried to send you a message and it tells me that I am not allowed to do that???? Finally I found this page so I hope you are able to get this. Our family (myself, husband and 2 boys) cant wait to get the call that our dog is ready - Kim said probably some time in August. I am reading all the dog training books that I can. My new AI dog is going to be my hiking and packpacking buddy. I looked at your posting 'New Pups' and I was wondering if those puppies were some of Kim's dogs or if they belonged to another AI breeder? If I can figure out how to use this forum I would love to be in contact with you. Are you part of Song Dog Kennels, too? Thank you for your time!! Linda Moore

You sound very experienced with dogs. It will be fun to see what you can do with one of our dogs.

Welcome Linda! I split your hello off to a new thread (that is what we call the conversations on forums), so your introduction does not get lost.

Welcome. I will update your account, so you will have the full rights of member/owners. Right now you are talking on one of the forums, where all the owners can see your post. I daresay you will get a few hellos.

It won't take long for you to find your way around, so don't worry about that.

All the pups in "new pups" are from Kim's Song Dog Kennels. You will notice that they go back a number of years.

Please feel free to ask for any help you may need. We have moderators, and I am here every day, and we have a forum set aside for issues dealing with the forum, called "Issues, Bugs and Features". If you scroll down that list, you will see tutorials on how to add pictures to your post, etc.

Hi Linda, Welcome. I just took my 6 month old Lola on her first back country trip (see my post "Lola Goes Backpacking" in owner check in"). She is so skinny, I had to have the straps shortened on here backpack. Hang in there on the wait. it's excruciating, but worth it.

Don't get me wrong. I love the skinny. Lola is about 34 lbs now, and that is perfect for us. I think she has a little more growing to do which is OK too.

Hi Linda, Welcome to the wonderful world of AID's. It has been an amazing journey for me as I'm sure it will be for you too. I have had Tolinka for a year now, and it is a constant delight and learning experience. I can now declare that this is MY breed, and wouldn't have any other. Jerry's right. Once the mind is made up to get one of these most incredible dogs, the wait seems to go for evvvvvvvvvvvver. Ahhhh but alas, time does pass and it will be your turn. :P

Hi Allison, I am a new AI member and I am #16 on Kim's waiting list. ..... Linda Moore

Greetings from just north of Seattle. We've had our pup for just over a month now -- he's just turned 3 months!!

It was excruciating waiting to here -- and I mean that in the best possible way!! :P

Our boy is Draco. He is a challenge. He is a delight. He is so bloody smart!!

Growing up I had dogs that never "learned" to do some basic tricks. Draco learns almost immediately and then grows bored! Three months old and he knows sit, stay, down, lay down, go to your bed, search, shake hands. When someone comes to the door he goes to his spot on the stairs to oversee what's happening and waits until his "Free" command.

But, he's not consistent -- he's only 3 months old.

It is a challenge coming home after a strenuous day and having to be on point, but at the end of the day, we all go to bed tired, fulfilled and so happy that we are all together.

One of the amazing pieces of the whole puzzle is this forum. Everyone we've talked to has been in awe that we have a way to be in touch with the other owners -- for advice, insight and some plain old commiseration! There is a wealth of information.

Congrats on being on the list. You will not regret it. (And I've only been around here for a month!)

For Now,

Gib Curry

Gib, I love how you are using the "free" command at the front door. I need to take more control, there, and will try it. Thanks.

Hi Linda and welcome!!!
As I have said several times before, the wait is SOOOOO worth it. We have had Soul for a little over a year now and he is all that we asked for and more.
We had very few accidents and the Febreze and soapy water worked well. As for the barking - he only does it to warn and when he's extremely happy. His singing has become a family favorite!

Can't wait to see the pics of upcoming breedings! Makes me want another one!

So interesting that you say that. Joan, earlier this week, was looking out at Draco and said, "He needs a playmate. Maybe we should put our name on the list now!"

She may be right!

I'm just thinking of the mischief two would get into. Especially two young ones.
