Steve, my brother-in-law took Shunka and Holly out onto the river bank the other evening and found some kind soul had left the gates open to the field of sheep and several others too. The sheep and lambs were scattered over three fields one of which was young wheat.

So he told Shunka to go to the other side of the third field in line, and Holly (An Irish Lurcher) stayed on his side, and following hand signals from Steve on the bank the dogs rounded up all the sheep and lambs and returned them to the correct field! Steve said they worked together brilliantly, he hasn't seen trained collies do it better!

I usually keep Shunka on the lead when going through fields of sheep, I don't need any one to say he has been worrying them, but occasionaly I have put sheep back where they belong when I have him with me, if they are out on the road for instance, but he has had no formal training at all, but he did just as he was asked, and made the sheep do the same!

WOW! You must feel like the puffed up mom hen. That is so cool. They are amazing animals and never cease to amaze me. Congrats.

That is so cool! These dogs are so smart. That quality of "working with you" is infinitely rewarding.

Give Shunka a hug from me. Tell him he's famous in America.

I know he is an intelligent clever lad, but he still makes me so proud of him, and he knows it!

He will be on show again at the end of the month, we are camping at a garden centre, and they have several thousand visitors over the weekend. The couple who are organising it, said that it was great we are going as they will have the best camp dog there is! Will let you know how it all goes, it could be hard work!

i,e "Do you really sleep in that tent?" "Are you really going to eat what you are cooking on that fire?"

The best one yet "Do you always put the tipi up on the ground?"

Ah, hahaha! Pictures, we want pictures. Don't forget the camera, although I know it won't be strictly authentic.
