Hawk and I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter.
Look out for the chocolate bunny, he does naughty things to the wait line. Ha Ha!

Hippy Hop to all of you.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE. Good luck on your egg hunt. Hope the pups don't find them first. :Bwahahaha:

Yes! Happy Happy! My friend called last night, in a terrible state. Her old Lhasa Apso walked off, while she was visiting a friend. It was just a moment, and he was gone. It was near a very busy street, that we know he crossed at least once, in his slow waddle, and unfamiliar territory, except for this friend's house, where he has been many times.

We knew he had gone across the busy street, and into a large parking lot, but searched until after dark and could not find the little guy.

I kept telling her, "It got dark, and he found a place to hide until morning. Even if he is your "baby", he is endowed with survival instinct. Tomorrow is Easter--lots of family parties, he'll join one, and they'll call you. "

I hoped it was true. She was devastated.

Early today, I called and we set our strategy for searching, and a few minutes after that, her friend called. The little guy was at his door. He found his way back. Good dog. Smart little bugger.

Happy Easter, indeed.

I promise to get that tag for Sitka, with our address and phone number.

Coyo killed his first rat--in fact his first living thing, other than an insect. I stepped outside, to hear him going crazy--there was a rat in the bird feeder, and he was right below it. I shook the line, and the rat jumped off, right into his mouth. He was so excited last night, and we could hardly get him in the house. When I went to get it in the light of morning, however, he was so disinterested, and seemed to care less.

I have noticed this in him before, that even though the creature still smells of creature, once the life spark is gone, he has no interest. To him, it seems, they are no longer there. Perhaps another angle to the moniker: Spirit Dogs.

So glad to hear that the little guy made it back safe and sound......that surely made for a very happy Easter for your friends.

As far as catching the little critters in the wild, Tolinka will find them, play the death game with them (Oh the excitement) until they die of fright (somewhat like a cat) and then take them off to bury them. He will dig a hole and gently push the little critter into it and cover him up in true animal burial fashion. He will bury them even if he finds a critter already dead. Back to the earth for these little guys.

...and human fashion as well. Life/death...to sides to the same coin..? They never ask these questions, but simply continue. I love this about our dogs.

Linda, I am struck, again, at how your two very different dogs, could be come brothers--so similar.

I hope everyone had a good Easter, not too many chocolate eggs!

Of course the boys could be stashing away the little things for a later treat!

Shunka stashes his chews the same way, but Holly always finds them as soon as his back is turned, she'd do murder for a dentastix. He just lets her get on with it!

Sitka stashes his treats, as well. I thought he was looking for some place to poop in the basement, and up he pops with one of his chew sticks. I have been finding them in the corners. Crazy little creature.
