Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to see if I could collect a little data to see how the average AID is concerning age vs weight.
If you wouldn't mind posting your dogs age and their weight. If you have a full grown dog and kept records of it's weight at 4-5 months old I would be keen to know both weights.
In most of the dogs I have raised I could take the 4 month weight and double it to make a good guess as to what the dog will be at a healthy adult weight. This rule doesn't hold true for the bully breeds and some of the larger dogs as they continue to grow longer than smaller dogs. I suspect it will hold true for this breed.
Bella was 22 pounds at 4 months and is 45 pounds now at 3 years old.
Thanks!
Todd

My AID is a female, a year and a half old and 42 pounds last vet visit. I don't have her records on me at the moment but I do at my house. I will drop a line in a later post and let you know how much she weighed at 4 months.

Hawk turned 4 on Christmas. He is a light weight at 40lbs. We didn't pick Hawk up till he was 5 1/2 months but I do remember he was around 24 lbs. when we got him home.

I don't know what she weighed at 4.5 mos. (it's not like I have one of those graphs like you get at the pediatrician!) but at a little over one year my AID weighed 34 lbs. I haven't weighed her since.
Reading the breed "standard" on the Song Dog site, I see that females are described as weighing as little as 25 lbs. I'd like to see one of them.

Fancy Dancer was the littlest female when I was at the Ranch... and she was TEEEENY... very cute, but quite small, I'm guessing she'll be a 25 pounder.

Hello Emmie and Ronin! So glad to see you. I have always thought that is the coolest name. I will upgrade your account, so you can see the rest of the forum.
Great photo! Those eyes!

One could argue that evolution suggests we’re not idiots, but I would say, “Well, no. Evolution just makes sure we’re not blithering idiots."

Shunka (male) is a big lad, can't remember his weight at 4.5 months it was a long time ago! he is 11 this year and partly due to restriction of excercise last year must be 60+lbs at present, when he was leaner and younger he was about 50lbs.
Hoping to get some more of it off now I can let him run freer again.
