Hello everyone!

This is Wayne C. Long again. I have appreciated your recent comments about my short story and the subsequent visits some of you have made to my Web site at www.LongShortStories.com.

But today, especially, is a day of celebration. You see, it's my birthday. No, you don't all have to run out to get me something. I want to give you something. Something in celebration of life. In celebration of Creator's universal love for his children, both two-legged, and especially four-leggeds. Something especially for Aiyana!

AIYANA

Dear Spirit Dog,

Yes, you, Aiyana.

You, with the beauty and sharpness of an obsidian blade.

You, whom I came to know and chose to illuminate my story.

You, who yet lives on in the comfort of Creator's lodge.

You, who have hopefully met my Abby.

You, whom Michael and Sandra cherish.

You, are my hope for peace.

You, Aiyana, black beauty of the ages,

Are my birthday gift!

Yes, Happy Birthday. The poem is lovely, really. Very kind of you.

She was stunning.

All our pups are, of course.

That was lovely. The Greeks have a tradition, where on their birthday they are the ones who give the gifts.

Are you Greek?
