There was a car, a power pole, and havoc in our valley. Modem blew, and had to be replaced. Glad to be back. Thanks to those who got the word around for us. We do appreciate it!

I was kicking myself for not having a full list of email addresses.
One could argue that evolution suggests we’re not idiots, but I would say, “Well, no. Evolution just makes sure we’re not blithering idiots."

One person hurt, power out after wreck

By HECTOR CASTRO
P-I REPORTER

One woman was badly hurt and thousands of people lost power after a car crashed into a utility pole early Wednesday.

The collision happened near South Columbian Way and South Alaska Street in Beacon Hill around 4:20 a.m., Seattle police reported.

Spokesman Jeff Kappel said a car crashed into the utility pole there, slightly injuring the male driver and leaving his female passenger trapped. Seattle firefighters were called to extricate the woman, who was badly hurt and transported to the hospital. Her condition was unavailable.

The crash also knocked out power for about 3,000 City Light customers, but power was restored for most people by 5:45 a.m., the utility reported.

The accident remains under investigation.

It was late Wednesday that I was able to diagnose that despite the two large surge protectors and UPS in the way, the accident cause a surge that killed the modem. Fortunately, my provider was very fast at shipping a replacement, but UPS wasn't too quick at getting it here.

Anyways, here it got, and here we be, unscathed except for a blown power transistor in the guts of the computer lab.

We're back.
