KittynDoc 968
Don't know if this is growing pains, but lately (about a month now), Wyot makesa series of yelping of sorts, and I thinking he was in trouble, come to find that he is sleeping deeply, his belly moving as if he has hiccups.....he now does this at least two , sometimes three times a day. A new one just a half hour ago, was yelping, followed by deeper breathing, with the breaths coming faster, and then, all four paws moving, as if he were running!!! He has come to fall asleep near the sink, next to the dishwasher as its running...he likes the sounds it makes, apparently. I know animals have dreams, I'm sure. Just want to know if anyone else has experienced this? I don't remember much with my other dog, a black lab, as it was a long time ago, and the time before that, I had a baby, a toddler, and a dog...too much commotion, lol! Allison 2,369
I believe my dogs dream of chasing squirrels. It is as you say, muffled barks and sleep-running. Sometimes, if I feel they are too upset, a bad dream perhaps, I will gently touch them, and they move on in dreamland. They do the same for me.

I gently touch him, and he half opens his eyes, sighs, and then settles again. Oh how wonderfuit is when he reciprocates when he sees I am upset!
sschenck 236
Just last night our Kai was running and muffled bark dreaming. His feet were moving in perfect time as if really running. The night we picked up our Jesse he fell into a deep sleep and I just know he was dreaming of nursing, his tongue was out, he made a suckling noise and front feet moving. We filmed it,Darling!
NyteByker 535
I love it when doggies do this! It's so darned cute. I read somewhere (from God knows where)that a study was done on dogs and cats dreaming. They found (somehow) that when dogs dream, they are often dreaming of their human. (I don't know how they studied that....) And when cats dream (and I love love love cats), it's rarely of their human. Hahaha.

MeganC 50
Both Zephyr and Juno are active sleepers. Paws moving, ears twitching, and tails wagging. Both do heavy breathing, quiet barks, growls and yips. They even sometimes sleep with their eyes partially open and you can see their eyes moving. I only wake them up if it seems like they are having a bad dream.
