Allison 2,369
No one is driving, ice everywhere, the schools are closed......that is what a couple inches does to Seattle. No one has snow tires. They are predicting below zero temps throughout the week, and more snow. Should be good sales after Christmas. Here is the global warming backlash. DebiSlaughter 9
Ugh - you do live further up north than I! We are at 3 inches as of 5 minutes ago and two days ago it was 54 degrees when I woke up. You are a better Michigander than I, Judy - two foot of snow and I'd be flying to Hawaii! Thinking of moving there anyways! Bwahahaha Hey! We have over two feet on the ground. We've already passed last year's total at this time! It is absolutely beautiful though! I keep hoping that the one good thing that could come out of global warming is that Michigan weather will become like Florida and Florida will become like Michigan. That way I can have warm weather all year and not have to move away and all the "seniors" that move to Florida will come back to Michigan and stimulate our economy! Cheers to warm weather...how long till Spring Equinox? Bwahahaha

Paul and Angelique 0
This fell in a few hours in the Netherlands. Sadly it was all gone the next morning. http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z158/angelique1967/DSC01641.jpg
Allison 2,369
Nice picture Angelique! Diablo is growing into a stunning dog. He's got the look, eh? Brègo's ears aren't up? You can still tell he's Indian Dog. They both look very regal. If they are anything like my dog, one minute they are looking very intelligent, and the next, they are total goofballs. Did I get the accent right? Well our snow hit today. I have never seen lightening and snow together. It was so bright, will I was still sleeping, I thought at first I was having brain trouble. (Hold you smart comments, on that one.) Anyway, first it rained a bit, then lightening, and then snow. So there is a nice sheet of ice under the snow. Of course, I couldn't talk my husband out of going to work. He could hardly wait to get out there on his Ural. He did have to engage the 2-wheel drive. It's the annual Seattle winter holiday. All the schools are closed, and no one goes to work....except my husband. It's very quiet with no cars on the road. That part is lovely. Karen and Newc How is it where you are? That part is lovely. Note that a "Ural" is a Russian sidecar motorcycle. It has three wheels. On mine, both of the back wheels can be engaged...and I have knobby tires. Oh the joy of blasting through the snow and ice. I really need to put some sleigh bells on the beast.

Karen Hey, we have a Subaru Outback. It is well worth the money. We already decided when it's time to replace it we will get another one. Our's is a 2001 with over 100,000 miles. Wonderful in snow and ice. It handles just wonderful. I found out this week that a few people I know decided to walk to the grocery store for the neccesities. They were afraid to drive. I on the other hand just jump in and go. I wish I would of known they did that, I would of driven them. Our snow is pretty much gone. They are forcasting snow for tonight and only a high in the low 20's tomorrow. I call Hawk our "snow" bunny. He just loves the cold, white stuff. Lisa

Every time it snows, it is like they are experiencing it for the very first time. My Outback is a '96, has 110,000 miles....I bought it when my son was born. He is 13, and I'm planning on buying a new one when he turns 16 and I can turn the keys over to him. Unless it doesn't hold out that long. But it might! I test drove a new one a few weeks ago and I have to admit it was pretty tempting, all of that new fanciness. My husband is out at the store right now, we are one of the only families on our little road who made it out today. Karen

Karen 41
There it is again: Luka's face on the pups... -Gavin She has a little less of a mask than he does, at least from the one very tiny photo I saw of him. I wish there was a better photo. Partly I was going by photos of his pups, too. I think Danza's mask is more pronounced - hers is very strong. There is is one expression they all have though....I saw it on one photo you shared of her, Gavin.
Allison 2,369
6 below, this morning. I have never seen it this cold in all the years I've lived here. It's supposed to snow again tonight, and then warm up to snow/ rain tomorrow (that should be treacherous), and then warm up to our drizzly normal winter. All the neighbors were outside, last night, trading sips of homemade hooch, and sledding. We have blocked off the street and taken over. You can sled down several blocks, if you don't mind trudging all the way back. I'll harness Coyo and see if I can get him to pull me. We're all meeting for a sledding and barbecue party, tonight. Urban life isn't all bad. Poor mail gal, was still working last night, while we were all playing. Most dangerous job in Seattle, right now, navigating all those steps to people homes. And the most dangerous part of the sidewalk, is where people tried to clean it off, removing the snow from over the ice!

She still has the little wrinkle and dark spot on the forehead, though. Very cute. I think we've figured out part of "the look" is... Luka's pups all have a very gentle forehead slope, giving their heads that look long and lean look. We were looking at Sterling in profile next to Phoenix and there is a pronounced difference in their foreheads...Phoenix actually has one. I can see the same thing looking at the picture of Diablo & Brégo, above. Brégo is Sterling's brother. -Gavin Edited December 20, 2008 by Gavin

Some of the dogs have almost round eyes. The description for the breed on the Song Dog site is almond-shaped eyes, and Luka's pups have those eyes. I want to attach a photo and see that I can't - it must be a permission issue. Here is a link to a profile photo - you can see if she has the same forehead thing going on. http://picasaweb.google.com/karen.hyams/Na...659534442218706

I loved looking through the whole album, though. How very fun to see her grow. Looks like she and Roscoe have become friends. Is that right? The "insert image" button does not appear for me. It used to. And that is for the regular, full-feature post. I don't get any of the formatting options. I'll check my controls to make sure I haven't disabled something, but I don't recall doing anything like that. And oh, how Roscoe has changed his tune! They are now best friends. I have a dilemma about what to do with them when I go away for two weeks this summer. I have the perfect situation for him - he has always stayed with a friend who has two dogs, and he is in her house and she's glad for the extra cash and adores him but it is not nearly enough excercise for Danza. And I've found the perfect spot for Danza, a guy in Snohomish who has a lot of land that he has made into trails that he takes dogs that board with him for long mountain bike rides on. She would adore it, but it is too much for Roscoe's achy joints. Six months ago I would have considered splitting them up, even though it would be hard on her. Now I can't. He was using her as a pillow yesterday!
