Allison 2,369
Here are some excellent thoughts from Nick Polizzi, Director of The Sacred Science : _____________________________________________________________________________ Every year as Thanksgiving approaches, my mind is flooded with memories of childhood. Remember those construction paper cutouts they had us make in kindergarten and first grade? Sticky pilgrim hats, turkey feathers, and Native American headdresses stuck to doorways, hallway walls, and each other. The story of this national holiday, as it was told to us back then, turned out to be more fairy tale than truth. It conveniently left out the genocide and other atrocities that white settlers committed against the original indigenous inhabitants of North America. But, I invite you to look beyond the hallmark façade of “turkey day” and also beyond the plight of the American Indian for a moment. You see, this holiday did not originate here in America. It has been happening for thousands of years – and is intimately linked to a natural miracle that is often overlooked – especially in this day and age. Put on your “childlike innocence goggles” for a moment and ponder this: When the ground beneath us is parted and a seed is planted within it, the earth, the sun, and the moon, conspire to make life happen. We like to slap common words on this daily phenomenon, but you really have to pause the brain game and witness the occurrence in order to fully appreciate it. Imagine all the relationships that go into making a tiny seed grow into the feast that now sits on your table, a gift of nourishment for your loved ones. Our ancestors never took this for granted. The glorious dance between the earth, moon, and sun was watched closely with awe as it brought about and sustained all life on this earth. People spent more time outdoors back then. Yes, this was out of necessity, but imagine the connection an individual must have had to the subtle rhythms of Mother Nature in those times. Day in day out, you worked under the sky, watching the sun make its way toward the horizon, noticing the first stars that began to twinkle at dusk, which new constellations were appearing and disappearing on the canvas of the night sky. You might not have had a TV, an iPad, or a Laptop, but you were connected. Tomorrow, when my family trickles into our house (yes, we’re hosting this year!), I'll be quietly celebrating humanity’s return to this innate connection. I’ll let you in on a little secret - our mission with the Sacred Science is to be a spark that re-ignites this deep relationship with the earth and its beautiful mysteries within everyone in our tribe. I am deeply thankful for you and the shared path we walk. Many blessings, Nick Polizzi Director, The Sacred Science __________________________________________________________________ Nick Polizzi has spent his career directing and editing feature length documentaries about holistic alternatives to conventional medicine.
