Now all I need is for Echo to throw a female or two and we will be planning our trip up there 5 weeks later!!!! Anyone else going to Kim's? Who lives near? It would be cool to have a little get together. I also have to drive by and show Michele Crater Lake it is so awesome! Mazama is JD's new dog's name. It was also the mountain that used to sit where Crater Lake is today. We have not picked out a name for her and hope the trip to his place will inspire us to find the right one. for now it's Little Dog! I kind of like Luna Skywalker but Michele is not to crazy about it. So we will wait to met her and maybe by the time we get home she will be named.

I'm really excited after talking with Kim about the Echo/Shappa pups!

Woot! Woot! and Congratulations! I hope your puppy is in this batch!

I only live about 5 hours from Kim's and ummmm.......yeah......Luko~ta needs to go back there for some reason.....yeah, that's it.....I ...ummmm.......have to go back there around puppy time because I have to pick up some paperwork that will have mysteriously disappeared and I will need copies. (anybody buying this? think it will work and I can sneak down for a look at the puppies?) :o

I grew up in Fort Klamath which is 23 miles south of Crater Lake; such a beautiful area. Might I make a suggestion? Make the trip to Crater Lake on your way back so that your dog can be there. Your dog will love it too; there is something very ancient and wonderful about that Lake. The Native Americans that lived in the area have tales of how the Lake was formed. My two cents; it's a place an AI dog could connect with their heritage while gazing at the lake. When we head out on our walkabout around the country it is one of the first places we will go so I can see it again and so can my dog....maybe dogs? :) (hint-hint; Kim, if you are reading this)

We will for sure make the trip after we have the puppy. It is a magical place and would want her to share that with us! I bet it was a wonderful place to grow up.

I took one of the service dogs I was raising at the time down the trail to the lake and stirred up a ruckus with the park rangers. When all said and done the dog went on the two hour tour with me and all was good. We got stuck in the primitive camping area for a half a day due to a marathon being ran around the crater. So we got to hike the Pinnacles and just loved it. Tracked a bear for a while before I wised up and turned around. I just love that part of the world. Can't wait to get up there again.

And yes I think the paper story will work perfectly so looking forward to meeting you and getting a little Lukota hair on me!

If she ends up with Luna then we will call her Lunatic and hopefully she will earn the name SkyWalker!

Anyone who read our "Name that Puppy" saga knows how long it takes us to name anything. Our son didn't have a name for five days, and it would have been longer if it didn't seem wrong somehow! How can you name a dog you don't know? I envy the quick namers. We agonized for weeks.

So many posts, so little time! Dropping in real quick to say once again, I cannot wait! Hopefully there is a male born - and although I love Shappa's look, we are trusting Kim to decide if we need a Shappa or Nova pup. I wish we could make the trip out to pick up our pup. I mapped it and it would take us over a day and a half to get there - which would make it at least a 4 day trip and we just can't get out of our obligations right now...BUT...you can bet we'll be at the airport on or around the third week in May AT LEAST two hours before his flight will be due in!!!

Choosing the name - well seems we may have gotten it right. From my calculations (and yes, I have been quite "anal"ytic about it), these pups should be born right around the Spring Solstice - so it seems we have chosen the right name!! It seemed right as the story goes, as hubby in hiding wanted to be able to call our next dog "Soul" or Sol as it will be and I am very aligned with the Solstice's - plan everything I can around them! NEVER in a million years would I have guessed our pup had a chance to be born around or on the Solstice!

Todd - love "Little Lunatic the Skydancer"! But from past experiences with names - make sure your ready for her to live up to it! Bwahahaha

Wow - I'm like a little kid who can't sit still during Mass - my feet are tapping, my legs are bobbing and I'm giddy as all get out! Bwahahaha

Sorry I will be making up names for 3 months.

The pups born in Danza's batch (three litters!) were all in early December, and I was very drawn to a version of Long Night Moon, but nothing worked. I was looking up Indian names for quite awhile.

I became attached to Luna when I thought we were getting a Shasta puppy.I thought she might be white like Shasta. So not sure were this will end up but I do like Skydancer.

I just hope it is before May 23 because we have a big regional event that qualifies for a World event. I would love to show her off!

Wow!! It won't be long now!!!

You guys are a hoot with naming your kids before you even meet them. For the last one we picked up, and we drove from Michigan, it took almost two weeks before she had a name!

Sorry to burst your bubble, Todd, but Kim had the mark on Skydancer. She was the mother to both our Willie and Shadow! Seriously, wait until you meet the pup. The name y ou're hoping for might not match up to the pup!!

I wish all of y ou the best! Our six have been a wonderful experience!

I hear you! We will call her "little dog" until her name comes to us! In the mean time I guess we are back to Skywalker after all it is a new era in space travel!

How about Spudnik?

I have a thing for Bigfoot and being Oregon is a hot spot for them I also like Littlefoot.

I know her name will come once we get to know her. Until then the list will grow.

I can't get dog off my mind!

Okay Judy, now I am contemplating the drive! We were weighing the cost of gas vs the cost of the flight, time off from "job" (although I can take the laptop and work from the road), and wear and tear on the car. As we are rail riders, we thought about taking the train out, but they won't allow dogs on board for the return trip so that is out of the question. Hmmmm...how long did it take you guys? I'm more than willing but the hubby is not good on car trips longer than 12 hours! Anyone else going out from this side of the good ole' US of A?

Don't forget that we made that section with all the dog names already taken. Check that out too. They all do answer to puppy puppy as you clap your hands! That's a Kim and Arlene thing that works. Check out books from the library on american indians as well as baby lists on line that contain all kinds of names and meanings. It's much easier for Kim and the register when there aren't duplicate names. Kim's Skywalker is mom to our two oldest. But check out the name game list we're putting together!!!

The terible two's will make you think you've lost your mind with this breed - that's their true testing period - but once that's over it will be worth it!

Hey! It took us about eight days to get there. I could very easily move to Oregon - especially Rouge River! INCREDIBLE! On the other hand, if Kim and Arlene want to change locations with us we will GLADLY change with them for awhile. They'd love Michigan - especially on mornings like today when it was 13 below and it's only 19 right now. The change of scenery would be good for them!!

Well, if hubby isn't good on road trips air might be better. Just have to be careful because of weather but Kim's been doing this for so long he works well with the airline. Really the airline is the putz not Kim! I think there's only one that's willing to fly pups now but don't quote me on that! We've had three of our six shipped and while it's a long flight for the pups the airline people are pretty good about making sure they have water at lay overs. They won't take them out of the crate, of course, but they make a good attempt.

OOPS! I made a boo-boo! It's Skydancer that's the Mom -- see what happens when an old Polish lady is on the site early in the morning -- she's confused and dizzy! Sorry!!

it took you 8days to drive out there from michigan? wow thats a long time. Maybe its faster on south side of country. We drove from Atl. Ga. to LA, Ca. in 2 1/5 days one way and slept at KOAs. Brooke and I were considering makin the drive to the ranch this summer also and have been running the numbers. We even looked into how much it costs to rent RV's. It comes out to around 2500-3k if I remeber correctly for a 3wk vakay in a rented RV touring the country.

Debi I'd probs fly and just tell them your puppy warns you about epileptic seizures or something. We flew w/ my grams bichon when we moved her down here and as long as dog could sit in the soft bag and fit under the seat (and we had a dr.'s note saying she needed her dog) it was fine. Of course I'm not sure of all the rules w/ flying.
