Thanks!!! Hi Maria! Make sure you don't need a permit to use the claws for jewelry. There are some states that require that and I don't know if PA is one of them. judyk 43
out of the bear claws....probably necklaces.... Yes, some states require that permit. I don't know why but some do. We have a friend in PA that is a goldsmith. I'll ask him if he knows. His work is outstanding. If you're interested I'll send you the info. Karen 41
I think the thrill will be in the kill, not the eating. I've heard terrible things about bear meat.
maria 182
I guess my thrill will be in getting the necklaces etc. made! I used to hunt but I've got whimpy in my older age! Actually watching the deer in our yard and seeing the little ones grow made it hard!

Allison 2,369
I've had bear stew. You have to cook it for days.
liz 9
Whilst a group of us were staying in Colorado in a replica fur trading fort, Mike and another chefy friend cooked bear on an open fire and slow cooked in an horno, They cooked it with red wine and mushrooms. Our American friend who was director of the fort, said that he didn't like bear, but came back for second helpings, Mike made himself a necklace that included bear claws, but he mixed it with old beads. Perhaps I shall wear it now, a lot of people would now like a lot of his thngs he has made, but I shan't part with them without any thought, there is so much of his time and effort in them.
