Wow- poor dog.

I don't get my dogs worked up about anything in the car.

They have lovely calm attitudes when riding.

Nor are they allowed to BARK. The occasional, closed mouth, 'mmmf' may happen, but that is the extent of it.

Lately Kona has taken to whining in the car...she eventually settles down but usually only after her dog park visit. Haven't taken a really long ride yet....we'll see how that goes when it happens.

She's adjusting...

Rain tap dances in the car until I put the window down...hard for her to sit still...anywhere. I think she thinks she is the Mario Andretti of the canine world. <_>

So the rest of the story is .....(it got cut off)..... she hangs out the window with her left paw on the side mirror and her right paw hooked over the side of the door. Her head facing forward with total focus is placed between the mirror and the door frame, wind blowing in her face. It doesn't seem to matter how fast we are going, country road or freeway. This is why she is a "Mario" pup......... She either is helping me drive or she just loves that wind in her face. Now mind you, she has a leash on and the connector doesn't pass the window frame. I make sure of that. She has already escaped once on the Santa Cruz wharf by jumping out the driver side window, :o and I'm not about ready to have that happen again....anywhere!

A flyer!

Elsy

Elsy.1.jpg
used to fly. Loved to fly in fact. Stood on the armrest of the door and leaned out the window...not too far but far enough to get a good gale up! Loved it. She never did jump out of the car...threatened once when she was a pup but never did it. Luckily...we never experienced that with her.

Her sister Ida

was not a fan of the car and as such was not a flyer. She wasn't a fan of the car. Or people. Or dogs. Or birds. Or noise. Or bags. Or squirrels. Or wind. Or lightening. She tolerated me. I had food.

Learned to fear lightening (thanks Ida) and hasn't quite taken to flying although she has on occasion dabbled with flight when it's really hot out and the air conditioning hasn't cooled the car down yet. Otherwise she loses interest pretty quickly and wanders off somewhere usually.

She was so cute! What happened?

This one! She's proven she'll jump right out of a moving car nearly hanging herself in the process (yay harness...boo collar). Luckily we were in the driveway....however if I lower the window past the halfway mark she's trying to get out. She defines flight.
As in: BYE!

Oh yes...it's definitely the "GOOD BYE bye" of surprise." Shocked me when she jumped out the driver side window and I found myself running down the wharf after her shouting "Help, loose puppy. Catch her if you can... help loose puppy, help!" I think your concept of a harness is a great one...gotta get one of those immediately. Thanks China.
