Misha is just over four months old now. Shes had two training classes with my trainer through Petco, per her suggestion as Misha gets a bit more of her coat in. First class, she was enrolled in puppy basics 1 initially, she just went over what Misha knew, and gave me a few things to work on. Second class, Sheri, the trainer, decides to start her on adult classes and suggests I get her into advanced private lessons as soon as her 6wk classes are over at petco. I'm a little blown away with how quick she is to learn things. Sheri also is very intrigued with Misha and blown away with her temperament and intelligence and wanted me to pass onto Kim that she is very impressed.

We've been exploring more, and Misha has been off leash on all of our adventures.

22780155_288163781677072_4562567057913784551_n.jpg22730630_287418608418256_3080360103156512604_n.jpg

She is an observer, we've started taking her to the dog parks, and before she'll charge in to play, she'll stop and watch what's going on. She enjoys watching other dogs.Even watching a private training class, Misha was content to lay beside me and watch what the other dogs were doing. She's always taking the big dogs on, and thinks she can outrun them. She handles herself very well when playing with dogs twice her size.

We met up with another Flint pup as well and have crossed paths quite a few times now. Misha absolutely loves playing with her.

She's spunky and very bossy, she'll even boss the older dog around. She's naturally curious and inquisitive, which helps with getting her used to things. She is pretty fearless, unless there is a husky running full speed at her.

We went down to Medford to pick up some furniture last month, and brought Misha. The truck had a complimentary pup holder.

We drove up to Bellingham Wa then down to Redding Ca this last week, and Misha came with us. Orcas Island, Leavenworth, Redding and Weaverville. Both places we stayed at on our trip had dogs. One was a bit anxious with other dogs and Misha respected her space until she decided to teach her how to play with dogs. Over 30 hours driving and Misha was a champ. Had the opportunity to meet Misha's sibling, Milo but had to reschedule.

Its interesting watching her with other dogs, as she's very in tune with them and listens to them very well, which I see a lot of other dogs struggle with. We took her on a walk with my old dog, Kaylee, and they did great. Played and romped around together, with careful supervision and precautions. Kaylee has a possessiveness and when she would grumble at Misha, she backed off and de-esculated the situation which put Kaylee in a positive spot.

Her training is going very smoothly, helps that she's so smart and enjoys working her brain. Knocks her out after a 30min training session. She's finally over the "it's raining and I can't get my feet wet" phase and is officially housebroken. My trainer I'm working with is continually impressed with her, and we may have to do a novice rally competition come this June.

26231346_1906401112735896_7353020157351608824_n.jpgNearing 6 months old now, 18" at the shoulder and 22lbs.

She has so much personality! She stomps around the house whenever she's happy (ALL the time), so we hear her wherever she is in the house. She's even less of a morning thing than I am! I'll usually get up before her and she'll stay in bed for another hour though, those few days she gets up before me, she demands I get up. She'll roll on my face or pat me on the eye with her paw. Very content to lay around the house for me or hit a trail or park. She's very insistent on going to the park every day, where she'll sit at the front door, look at me and stomp her paws a bit and whine, her cue that she wants to do something.

She is very quiet! Doesn't talk much, unless its something to be talked about, like people or animals in the distance she sees, she's got a good sense of judgement in regards to strangers.

We've been playing with a couple more AI dogs in our area(Arlo and Tesuque), and Misha loves them. Hard to pull them apart when we get them together

It looks like we will be moving to Northern California this year too.

Here are some recent shots of her.

Be afraid, be very afraid! They are SO smart. When I had my first AI dog, I found this highly-recommended, new fangled expensive "educational toy" made in Sweden kind of thing. (It WAS expensive). It even came with a large manual on how to introduce it slowly and teach new things with it over the course of several *months*. In 10 minutes, we had skipped to about chapter 10 LOL and another 10 minutes later and we were all bored with it. Never seen anything like it before or since.

If you can get into a tricks class after basic training is done, I would highly suggest it (we took ours at Petco too.) These doggies love to learn and really enjoy making their people happy.

I was actually thinking about those weird toys that are sort of like puzzles! She's nearing the age that we are thinking about spaying... We have no clue what we are going to do since she's still so crazy!

Basic training is already done and she's learned about 5 other tricks! She picked up a lot of the basics in the first couple weeks of having her. Next thing you know, she'll be able to outsmart us.

This sounds like the personality I need in our third AID whenever that comes time in a year or 2. One who will ground the other two a bit.

Tayamni is very good with social cues, Coffey is too but his boisterousness takes over and he was over a year old and still puppy licking everyone. He only does it now selectively.

They are both very smart. I think all AIDs must be. It looks different in some because of stubbornness or puppy attention spans.

Tayamni is a thinker and Coffey is a doer and he'll figure it out as he goes ..... he is very smart but that stubborn streak .... oooh.....

So from what you explained about personality I will DEFINATELY have to remember your threads and find out Misha's lineage.

It may not be same breeding pair but it could help Kim remember the pups personalities .... when it's time ....... when it's time ....

I love the pics too!!!!!!!

Use Petco training classes ..... have had great experiences with both dogs training there Puppy through CGC and also tricks classes!

Didn't think of an individual class. Working in group with the head trainer for the area, Debbie, she may be able to help Coffey with his leash walking and reactiveness to fast movement - he wants to run and play!

Thanks for the idea!!!!!! :)

She is great, her siblings, the ones I've been in contact with, sound very similar in temperament.

I agree, theyre all super smart. Arlo grabbed Misha's tail while they were playing and Misha picked it up and is now a tail biter! Whoops... She'll also pick up things other dogs do and play like them, body slams, pawing, different play styles. She's very much rough-and-tumble.

Misha is from Fala x Flint. On the puppy thread, she's the one jumping up to the camera. :) I've met one other Flint pup (different mother) who is also fairly similar. I've yet to meet her parents, hopefully soon!

We are going to aim for our CGC soon! My trainer suggested not going through Petco as she will get bored very quickly if its stuff she knows or picks up quick. We're doing private classes my trainer runs and she really wants us to do rally! I'm leaning more towards Agility.

I've been slacking a bit on training, but she doesn't really have much of a difference if we train the day prior versus a few weeks off. Thankfully.

As far as "puzzle" toys go, they are great mental stimulation. However, some dogs don't enjoy them as much and they are expensive which can be problematic if your pup ends up not liking them. You can try putting kibble (if you use kibble) into an empty 2L bottle and let them shake it out (similar to a kong toy) to see if they are even interested in puzzle toys before you spend money on them.

Here are some more shots of her and her best mate Tsuki. They get along so well. The other day, we had to cut their play session short, I stayed for a few more rounds of fetch and Tsuki was howling down the road.

People at the parks make sure to steer clear of these two when they start their game. They sound so vicious and look pretty scary.

And a moment of peace.

They also like to share their toys together.

I wonder if Tsuki might be from Nose x Flint? The face markings are very similar to Coffey from Nose x Tonto.

Tsuki is an AI Dog, yes?

Just wondering ....

Yes she is. I've been watching that litter grow up because I'm so in love with Nose. I'm thinking I might try to get her from Kim if she retires in 2 years or so. She just looks so happy all the time. Gorgeous girl.

I've heard Nose is really sweet. She has a wily look in some early pics that Coffey inherited. :P

Ahh, Coffey is Tsuki's older half brother! This Mom really has a strong influence in some of the pup color patterns I guess, kind of like a trademark ...the zig zag lines on the sides of the face!

I met a Nose x Tonto pup from Portland last month! Her name was Scout, just about two years or so, not sure. Her and Tsuki both resemble Nose. These dogs are so cool, and I doubt I'll go with another breed! I want more LOL

Misha just got spayed yesterday. Slept for the rest of the day and is doing much better today. She ate quite a bit and drank and is trying to play with some toys. It's pretty hilarious when she has her cone on because she'll freeze and hang her head like it's too heavy. She's doing a good job on taking it slow, although we have to help her up stairs and on and off furniture.

Here's her riding a horse from earlier this week. 19642492_323157124844404_7831647035367183594_n.jpg

All these puppy pictures are making me miss my potbellied puppy. She grew up so fast.

Brief update, though we haven't been up to much. Training is going phenomenal. Biggest thing is heeling! Its been hard to teach, though we are making slow progress towards walking on a loose leash. Other than that, she is great, sometimes she'll have a stubborn streak and ignore me until she decides shes done exploring. Most of the time she'll come when called the first time. She got spayed a month ago, and it's healed beautifully. Keeping her mellow wasn't difficult, as she mostly regulated herself and stayed calm until it was healed.

The stomping as stopped. She's gotten rather sneaky about running around the house. Only stomping when she's excited.

We had our first negative dog park experience, german shepherd came after Misha aggressively. Teaching her that I'm a safe zone when she's anxious about something has been the best thing i've taught her. She came to me and I was able to keep the dog off of her, though. They left and went through a different gate to come into the park, so I hadn't left. Dog comes running towards us, and Misha beelines for a corner, yelling her head off before looping back to me. She got her point across and it sniffed at her and walked away. I feel it was entirely her ability to communicate to that dog. No one was harmed, thankfully!

Currently her favorite thing to do is rally every dog in the park to play a game of chase. She's quick for her size, but there's always a dog that's quicker.

We got our first snow for the year a few days ago! Misha's been in the snow, but it's never snowed when she was in it. She was unsure at first but when beserk when she got to play in it... at 1am. We both had a ton of fun playing in the snow.
