miz molly 1,800
I thought you all would be interested in these dog tags. These are really cool. They come in different sizes, easy to read, and slip onto the collar...no jingling, it doesnt wear down and fall off or get caught on stuff. Definitely for active dogs. Both Tolinka and Two Step are proud owners of them. I got the 1" tag for them. http://www.boomerangtags.com/
gramtot 8
Very cool! I was just thinking of making a pouch that attaches to Denakka's collar so I can slip all those annoying tags they have to wear into the pouch so they won't jingle and possibly get caught on things--or make tempting handles for other dogs when rough-housing. judyk 43
The jingling noise drives ME nuts so I buy the plastic key keeper (they are all colors and go on the top of the keys for identification). Slip the license through them and no more jingling!!!
Gib 291
Right now, we either grab an inch of the blue painters tape and wrap them up or I grab a strip of two-sided Velcro and wrap them. Just after we got Draco, we were still having issues with our neighbors poor handling of their lab-pit bull mixed dogs. The lone Animal Control Officer for Snohomish County and I were consulting about the dogs. Eventually, I thought to ask him about all the tags. I've been thinking of engraving all the numbers on one tag -- no more jingling. So, I asked him. He thought for a couple of minutes, went to his car got out a book of some kind & read for a few minutes and came back. He told me there is no reason the "original" tags have to be on the dog as long as he can, in the line of duty, easily access the information. If all the information is on the dog, the dog is in compliance with the law. I like this guy and am glad to know he's on the job. I know he cares about animals. He told me, "problem dogs are never problem dogs. People make them problems. The percentage runs in the low three digits." So, his interpretation of the intent of the law rather than aligning strictly with the letter of the law may not be how every officer operates.
Allison 2,369
That's what I did, all info on one tag. It's a little large for the key covers, so I'd like to go with this flat style next time. Thanks for posting that link. Someone else, just recently PM'd me with a similar link. Thought they'd put it up for the gang, but maybe they thought I would? Anyway, I do like it.
maria 182
I actually like the jiggle....I always can hear where Koda & Chhaya are when I'm in the barn or when I go for a horse ride.....if I can't see them I can hear them! I like the idea of them not falling off the collar and the info not wearing down though....
linda 19
Im with you Maria. Ilike the jungling too gives the deer fox a chance to run and I can hear them when I dont see them

dcunger 0
These are the links I had sent Allison. I haven't given them much thought since because we don't have a pup yet (and we still have lots of time before vacations to order ID bands for our kids). https://www.roadid.c...spx?styleid=182 that link is for a similar tag to the one above. This next link is for a collar strap that can be unwound when you need rope for whatever reason. Provide a good story on how you used the collar and the company will replace it free. http://www.survivals...s.com/pets.html. woodrat 399
I love these collar tags! What a great idea. T doesn't have an 'official' collar yet as he hasn't outgrown the hand-me-downs, but I'm tempted to get a couple of these. Jingling tags drive me nuts, especially indoors. But I do put bear bells on the dogs when we're out in the woods to alert the wild things of our presence - it's a much louder ring than just a tag jingle. Sounds like I've got a herd of reindeer following me
maria 182
I used the bells on the "girls" for awhile but I actually think it bothered their ears.....I have whispered Chhaya's name at least twenty feet away or more and she whips her head around like a shot....I believe their hearing is alot more sensitive than ours! Starghoti 466
um, yeah their hearing is sensitive. Some dogs can hear your heart beat from 4-6 feet away...
miz molly 1,800
um, yeah their hearing is sensitive. Some dogs can hear your heart beat from 4-6 feet away... Yep, that's why I whisper alot to my dogs. I would rather they hear what's happening in the woods because at some levels, I can't. I study their body language, and they tell me what's happening out there.
