Kim is aware that he is now introducing new breeders and is currently working on getting pictures of them. Kim wants the ideal picture posted which represents the color and eyes of each one. This is not an quick fix but it will happen.

1 pup for Shasta so far .... and one MORE sleepless night for Kim..... how amazing to still be passionate and able to do all this work! I think he's been doing this so long the next seven generations are already benefiting :)

Greg, thanks for the work you are doing with Kim. whatever you help with frees him up to do the other stuff he needs to do.

What a great thing to volunteer!

  • 2 weeks later...

Does anyone know if Shasta had any more pups or just the one?

I'll second this question...do we have puppy eyes open and pics?

Hi Tex,

I don't know the answer to the first question, but it is usually a month to 5 weeks before we get open eye pics.

It takes a few weeks to puppies eyes to open.

I know, it's really fun to see them on the breeder pics...and to see several of them we haven't seen offers some exciting new possibilities for pups.

Am I right in assuming then that it was Azteca that had the one pup on 9/3, not Shasta? Did she only have the one or were there more? Thanks for any information to help clarify that

Some of you may have dreamt of the pups prior to them arriving. I am curious if some of you had dreams about your pups? I awoke this morning with the sense from a dream that our pup was communicating with me. I try hard not to place my interpretation on the dream, but it uplifted me all the same.

Dreaming of the new pack member seems to be a common thing. Here is a thread on the topic http://www.iidoba.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3210&hl=dreams&do=findComment&comment=28919

I know you are asking about dreams before your pup arrives but you may have dreams after too. The night I named Waki I had a complicated dream that can be condensed into an owl holding hands with a sickly red hawk. In the morning I knew someone would have a serious illness. Waki started throwing up that day - with parvo. I acted fast on his symptoms in part because of my dream.

I have dreamed of a pup being delivered to me (that's how I got on waiting list when I did - I was going to wait a bit longer ... then spoke to Kim and he agreed I should get on the list) ...

heard my pups name over and over in a ceremony,

had other dreams about pups and also grown dogs (funny one dream was about the dog hiking through rocky terrain, later saw Tamarack's picture of the month .... then I just read about Lili perking up during her travels ... must be something about the mid-west, south-west. B)

I have had dreams of being with different puppies and dogs since I've been on the waiting list.

I've also felt an extremely strong bonded connection for a couple of months (while still waiting), then had a dream and woke up saying "my puppy is gone". That's OK, too hot to ship to me and I AM SURE it got the right home!!!! -_-

Now, keep in mind, all of this has happened and I have NOT ever received the call yet!!!!!!!! :P

I think it is part of the process.

Some of the things I've encountered are about the pup and some dreams are about me and where I am in my life.

I'm sure You'll enjoy the link Sherab pointed you to !

I had a dream about our pup last Tuesday night and have seen it in meditation many times before this, with my pets that are now in spirit. It's all so interesting!

Wicca's presence in some spirit form definitely preceded us getting together.

Joan and I would see little shadow's zooming in our peripheral vision. We noticed that when one of us turned to see what that was, so did the other one.

Didn't take us long to realize that Draco was turning and looking in the same direction, too.

Didn't take us long after that to get our name on the list...

I just read a quote by a new father, "We had been told, so we expected that there would be more work to parenting than we could imagine. But, I didn't expect that there would be so many moments of pure joy!"

I gotta say....it's been a wonderful experience being part of this 'family'. At first I was a bit reserved but that all melted away in short order when I realized that this isn't a community of self interested 'bored' members who share stories to either show off or somehow elevate themselves as in some other places on the 'net that I've visited in the past. This is an actual group of like minded people with a clear purpose; Dogs. Dog health. Dog Nutrition. Dog psychology, Dog psychiatry (in some cases), Dog physiology and of course Dog...just plain Dog.

I've never found a community like this before...in real life or in virtual life. This group of people continue to amaze me and make me aware of the fact that the reason we're all here are these little amazing animals. That's the thread that binds us all together and what a thread it is. I'm honored to be part of this....I really am!

I'd always had a dog since I was about eleven years old. My parents felt it was important for our family to have a dog and that was a wonderful decision on their part. My first dog was a jet black & snow white husky/collie mix we called Corky. She was great and lived to the ripe old age of 16!! And she was large: 75+ Lbs!! She passed when my wife and I were dating in 1986 (the actual year we got married). She was my first experience with a dog and what a tutor she was. She set the ground rules well and I keep her in my memories daily when interacting with the Squint...thank you Corkscrew!

Then there was an eleven year period of time where my family (wife & kidlets) didn't have a dog but that changed in 1998. Our first dog was a black lab/collie mix (at least that's what we think she was). We called her Elsy after my mothers aunt Elsie who had passed at about the same time as we had gotten the dog. Wonderful animal, very intelligent and playful. Had a blast with her. About five years later we felt that Elsy needed a playmate and we got Ida (named after another great aunt...this time on my fathers side) who many here on the AID boards knew as OLP® (Old Lady Puppy). Sadly, she passed last November. She was a good dog too but she had some problems both physical and emotional that caused some stress around here for the duration of her life. She had borderline personality disorder (at least that was my diagnosis) and she wasn't the most social animal around. She and we learned though how to deal with it and she had good, happy life until Elsy passed in 2011...which was a heartbreaking experience for all of us but especially Ida. Her greatest challenge was learning to love another dog after Elsy and we were massively concerned about this situation as some of you fine people may remember from my early posts.

That dog was Liliko'i!

Of course, my true understanding of dogs began when I met Liliko'i and my diagnosis of OLP® is a posthumous event based on what Lili has taught me to date. Not to say that the others were any less of a great companion/member of the family but Liliko'i has shown us a completely different level of connection that I'd never known before. She's just so 'engaged' .... it's the only real descriptive word that I can use to do justice to the type of relationship we have with her. Her magic was revealed immediately upon arrival: She won over the most difficult heart in the household: OLP®

Here's another example of the depth her personality: this recent trip to the mountains was the most amazing thing I've ever seen in an animal before. She 'came alive' when we arrived in the mountain states and stayed that way for the duration of the trip. She was excited to arrive at home this past Saturday but there is a palpable sense of let down in her since we came back home. She misses her cousins yes but I think that it's more than that...she misses the landscape too! She's a mountain dog!

When we arrived in Moab, Utah for the week with Julie's brother and his wife they were amazed at how I was able to 'walk' Lili off leash the majority of the time! I ended up putting her on leash often because there was just so much that could go wrong between the cliffs with the several thousand foot shear drop offs and the occasional snake or horny toad creeping around the trails...she however didn't mind being on leash....she was just so ....there!

I cannot begin to describe the excitement that is building in our household as the weeks pass getting us closer to meeting our new family member from the fall litters. Now that there are several litters growing up I'm beside myself with excitement and can barely contain myself. Just the knowledge that she's coming and the journals of the others with two AI dogs in the family, like the epic stories of Wicca and Cake, has me so completely enthused that I cannot even think straight!

I'll have to second Gib's comments:

Old-timers: Thank you all so much for sharing your wit, wisdom and experience. I am so profoundly thankful for the guidance and leadership we've been given since joining this family. (& it truly is a family)

New-timers: You are so fortunate you have found this breeder, this breed and this forum.... Welcome.

Wait-Listers: Enjoy your suffering; every moment of it. Breathe through it like spiritual birthing pains. Your life is about to change profoundly.
