TrueNorth 98
Hi Guys, Quick note, been house of sickness. First my son, now me. Must grin and bear it and plow through work with antibiotics and early to bed. Khya is pretty much potty trained. Much to the amazement of my dogwalker. She loves her ice cubes, stuffies, human feet, biting hair when you are sleeping. Does not love the leash, but we are working on it. Has her crazy half hour before bedtime. Sleeps through the night (most of the time) She is also known as the best escape artist in my friend's dog walking business: Have a laugh. KittynDoc 968
LOVE to hear this about Khya!!!! But so sorry to hear about your sicknesses. Feel better soon! We've got the potty training under control too...and because we have Wyot, Kitchee has gone out on a leash and is pretty good about it...every click when I stop him (it's a retractable) to redirect, helps him focus on the change of direction...and the reason is, he'd run off like a crazy little bugger after big brother, and then his curiosity makes him go further (like looking down at the edge of a small ravine, and actually trying to go down!) These dogs of ours are truly so very smart...and so very very lovable! Kitchee comes to us for snuggles, and I LOVE it! Look forward to hearing more about the Khya chronicles!

Denise E. 1,485
True North, Hope you all are feeling better soon! That is tough with a new puppy. YEP some of these dogs REALLY climb! Crazy half hour? You MUST mean the Zoomies. They are fun to watch! Khya may literally bounce off the walls - LOL! Eflemma - I have to try to find the gentle leaders we have at the house for Coffey. I forgot about that. It may help a lot even though he's not a puppy any special technique you found? Or just the instructions in the video that comes with it?
Eflemma 26
True North, Hope you all are feeling better soon! That is tough with a new puppy. YEP some of these dogs REALLY climb! I forgot about that. It may help a lot even though he's not a puppy any special technique you found? Or just the instructions in the video that comes with it? Simple really. By keeping a tight leash, any movement forward is "automatically' corrected. A gentle tug was enough for any correction needed - wants to chase something, etc.. This is of course is used in conjunction with the commands - heal, follow, leave it, or whatever you are doing. We began to loosen the leash slowly over time and he's doing great...almost totally off-leash at this point. The video is good...I just couldn't remember it all while training.
