Summer Greetings From Finland

Recommended Posts

Hi folks (especially Kim and Allison):

Well folks Eyota is now 2 years old and quite a woman. We were up in the norther part of Finland (commonly called Lapland) this summer for holiday. We took this picture of Eyota

relaxing in a cove in the Gulf of Bothnia (sits between Finland and Sweden).

That is so fantastic. My heart almost swells to bursting when I see humans and dogs working side by side for the benefit of everyone. I've been know to cry with appreciation and awe when watching guide dogs work. Search and rescue teams, in my book, are True Heros. So much work and dedication goes into it. Be safe and keep us informed of your adventures!

Thank you everybody it is so nice to share the good news with you.

As the trainig goes on my dog is teaching me more and more. Today she showed me that the person we were looking for was in totally different location than I had lead her to search. She tried to sign me that direction is wrong but I was too concentrated to get task done that I was not reading her propely. I send her off and she took for my horrow a totally wrong direction(I thought). I told her to come back and she left again to wrong direction. She stopped her running for a moment and looked at me-and dissapered. After a few minutes I was told by radiophone that she had got the person we were after from totally different location that I had guide her to go.These are so humbling experiences-I should be the leader? It makes me occasitionally wonder..

Do you remember the name of the author of that book?

I know exactly what you mean. Have experienced that myself. Congratulations on all your successes, and we are enjoying learning with you. We talked about this at our local gathering, and may try to start something as a group. We are following your story with great interest.

Tawa sent me something to post for you all, just before vacation, and I did not get it posted. Will get it up ASAP!
