Native American Information

Recommended Posts

FYI

Kateri Tekakwitha a Mohawk woman of the 17th century, also known as Lily of the Mohawks has been cannonized as the first Native American woman to become a Saint in the United States. Her shrine can be found on holy grounds in Fonda, New York.

I love her name. If I had a female AID I'd call her Teka in honor of Lily of the Mohawks.

I just love historical info.

Her history is so interesting. She only lived to the age of 24, but accomplished so much in her young life.

Short article this morning on cnn.com about a photo series a Native American lady is doing, travelling the country with the goal of taking pictures of members of all 562 (the number has since risen to 566) tribes. Neat little read if interested... http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/30/living/contemporary-native-american-images/index.html?hpt=hp_bn11

Okay, so awhile back I reported about Kateri the first Native American saint. I just read that they are making a movie about her life. It comes out this fall, should be an interesting film.
