Kim's Outreach And Community Building

Recommended Posts

I want to point out another way that Kim has improved the lives of his dogs, and is helping spread the word about his dogs and work, and that's the owner screening process.

There are many people on this forum talking about what wonderful dogs they have, and I want to talk about what wonderful owners the dogs have. Our AIDs were born with their many and varied personality strengths and quirks, and it is us owners who nurture those qualities, who help the dogs develop into the wonderful friends they are, who make the breed look even better with their deep knowledge of the history of the breed and passion for their dogs.

The people who help Kim in this work, the people who run the forum, go to the ranch to help socialize pups and help with whatever else he needs, help him create and maintain this wonderful community that gives us and our dogs so much. Every post we write deepens the connections we have with one another and with Kim. Every pup we take into our homes and hearts is one more success story for Song Dog Kennels.

I just wanted to say thanks to Kim, and to say thanks to all of my friends here on the the iidoba forum.

That was nice Karen. I was just talking to another member about wanting to go out maybe for a week or two and get to know Kim and help as well as learn. I don't think the time is right now but maybe in the near future. Of course I will see what Kim thinks of it first. It has to take good owners to make a good impression of what the AID's are all about. I can't say too much as I have not even received my first one yet but with all the reading I have done and the people that I have talked to it is just a matter of time when I can tell everyone what great dogs these truly are.

I think the interview process is a very good decision. I know there have been a few fall through the cracks that no one could have foreseen. This is much better than just opening your doors and letting Tom, Dick and Harry come in and say I want that one. I am glad there is a forum such as this one. Owners telling of their stories and experiences. This helps teach people like myself about what to expect when our time comes. So I would also like to thank everyone that contributes to this forum, and THANK YOU KIM for doing all that you have done and continue to do.

We've done many interviews both on the phone and in person and always, always encourage potential owners to 'meet' an AID in person, if at all possible. Our doors are always welcome for visitors. I think it's extremely important because I've always said, this breed isn't for everyone. So, Roy, if you want to take a ride to northern Michigan, you're more than welcome to meet our three and learn about the other four we've had in our lives! Sherab came up and spent time with us and the pups. The one on one personal interview is very important too. Plan a ride!!!

Wow Karen, beautiful words. Remind me not to put on my night cream and potions before reading posts on the forum.

It is great to visit these dogs first and I was lucky enough to be close to JudyK and Larry's ( I need to bring Waki up to meet his kin - where has the time gone? and thanks Miss Judy for your open door). I have to admit to a healthy skeptic in me. Breeds like the NAIDs do no favors (should be the Not-AIDs). I think I hovered around the forum for a few years before deciding to check the dogs out in person. Real deal as represented is all I can say.

Go for it RoyS- life is the ride.
