Darmok is now home from getting neutered and is resting on the living room floor at the moment. Only one of his testicles was where it was suppose to be. The one that dropped (at 9 months) was "normal" but the other one was buried in his fatty tissue somewhere on its way down. This testicle was very small and the ...hmmm, I forgot what the vet called it...cord? The cord was very short and it was just never going to make it's way down.

The vet had to make a second incision and she said that it was difficult to tie it off due to how short this "cord" was. Anyway, he more than likely will develop a lump of scar tissue at that location.

He'll be in an e-collar for the next 10 days and barring any complications will be back to running around by then. The vet said to keep him calm and still as possible for the next few days (right).

Oh. I found this update. Bummer, that there was a complication. Vet thinks he'll be okay though?

I've watched this issue a lot on "The Incredible Dr. Pol". It happens with horses and other animals too.

Glad to hear that Darmok is OK and surgery was successful!

Now, keeping him quiet for 10 days .... that's the hard part! Good luck!

7 days post surgery and Darmok is healing very nicely. The cone has been off for the last 2 days because Darmok is doing excellently with leaving his stitches alone. We took 1/2 mile walk today and he's now sound asleep. He really wants and needs to run with his dog park pack but that's another week away.

Darmok seems to be healed up nicely.the biggest concern was the incision in his inner upper leg/thigh area where the retained testicle was removed. The skin is just so thin there but the vet did an excellent job and pup and I made it through the healing process.

Just got home from the dog park. Darmok ran like the wind. Comments from the other dog owners included statements such as "he's like a cheetah", I thought my dog was fast til I saw yours", "he looks like he's jogging (while the auzzie was running full speed after him but couldn't catch up)", "he's got a beautiful stride"

I really just love watching him run.

Probably no more updates post surgery. Pretty sure this moment is over.
