I thought I'd start a new thread for Members' Art. Would love to see what you are working on and hear stories about finding dog hair stuck in the paint or varnish, and how your little magic elves improve what you are doing... I've recently started working in stained glass. So far my elves are just tickled to be down at the barn but when the weather isn't so fine it will be interesting to see how much help I get.

Beautiful tribal piece of Jas, done by a good friend

and K'ne's nose printKneNoseTat.jpg

Oh, you don't mean Our art.. ;)

I get a LOT of helpful fur in my art projects.. I make custom collars-

KneCollarClose.jpg

They are custom measured to fit each dog. And designed to lay in the curve of their neck. They have no buckle or clasp, they slip over, and your ID tag attaches to the pivot ring. As can your leash clip. Created to make the tag lay flat, like a pendant, not sideways like they do on d-ring standard collars.

Proto-Fit.jpgPrototypeCollar.jpg

ClientNatural.jpg

They also have a slight curve to the strap, so they fit more naturally, cause less hair wear, and are almost silent when worn with one tag.

I plan on bringing my kit and some strap blanks to the Gathering...

Wow that Tatoo really captured Jas. I hear Larry of Larry and Judy K of the 5 AIDs and 11? total has ink for each dog.

K'ne is such a little ginger snap. So cute.

Love the collar designs. The ring in the front is an excellent idea.

I think it is funny- K'ne's coloring, next to Jasper's coppery-gold, she looks almost green.. lol

Awesome tatt! I like the nose print too. I can't recall how many times Chhaya has touched me with her nose...sometimes gently and sometimes a pretty good nudge depending on what she wants lol

I love that nose print tattoo. It is so subtle and delightfully abstract... and it does remind me so much of when T's nose just barely brushes against my leg. I imagine that is exactly the mark it would leave - not a full nose print but that lovely angled brushstroke.

I used to be so much more into art when I was still in school, drew dogs on just about every piece of paper I could find. Nowadays that's kind of faded away and been replaced with the daily grind. My free time is all but exhausted by caring for Tamarack and my garden. Someday I'd like to do a nice big drawing of Tamarack, though! I'm sure I'll share it here if I ever do.

That is a good artist that did Starghoti's tat!

Tayamni rubs / bumps with her body as she is walking by me when she is showing affection. The nose or paw touch is when I'm sitting or lying down.

OK, now my attempt at art / life imitating dreams:

Paper mache` paper mache.jpg

Leather work leather work.jpg

Skull Painting skull painting.jpg

& sewing (I pretend to) sewing.jpg

I haven't gotten around to wrapping feathers or making fans lately (no pics)

My beadwork is rudimentary so definitely no pictures of that!

You do beautiful work...your stitches are so perfect. Now don't tell me those are machine stitches.

I love seeing everyone's artistic talents. What a group! :D

One time I was asked, how do you do it....my reply was:

I myself, have no idea where the visions come from, how it starts, or where it is going to end as a finished piece. I just know that it is all part of this “playful journey” that I am blessed to go on ….things just happen, the brush dances, the pen swirls, the minds eye opens and off I go……..

So here is one of my water color paintings. I started out making a template of the huge maple leaves that fall in my garden every season. I drew a bunch of overlapping leaves on the water color paper. I really wanted to do a study of transparency with water colors. Well, half way through I noticed there was a nose bigger than life square in the middle of the paper. Then the "hat and hair became noticeable, then the mouth, and lastly the eyes.

So here she is, "The Forest Spirit"

She presently hangs on the wall in the middle of all 5 of my grand children. :D

Wow so many talented people! Love the stained glass art, the Forest Spirit, (some of the bottom leaves look like the AIDogs ears and muzzle looking up). Did you plan it this way? Love the homemade collars too! I'm interested in buying one (or two). What a great concept and look. I live in Illinois and can't make the gathering - do you have a website or email that I can contact you to order one? I usually find unique stuff on Etsy but i'de rather shop my AIDogs owner talents any day!

Denise E....I get the paw touch or I guess you would say her paw on top of my foot when I'm eating....she knows she must stay sitting or lying down at the table, but she has to gently lay that paw on my foot to remind me "she's there"! Lol

I LOVE talents of all kinds! I like to make "woodies.". Haven't made anything since Christmas time, but I just might make some AI Dog silhouettes soon. :-).http://www2.snapfish.com/snapfish/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=13774705013/a=116109861_116109861/otsc=SHR/otsi=SALBlink/COBRAND_NAME=snapfish/

I just got into the whole glass thing and I have a back log of projects for myself around the house (like hearts for February window display and I need some garden gates to keep Waki and Cake out of my roses - they are after the rabbit/mouse/wood chuck but still!) However I expect at some point to have made so much stuff for the fun of it that some will "have to go".

You are so right on the button Sherab. It's fun when you think that at first, the art projects live in the house and then eventually one's medium changes so the projects can live outside....... meanwhile you start gracing other peoples homes and gardens as you give them away to friends and family.....years down the road, and hundreds of projects later (I hope you photograph all of your art work...you will be amazed at the amount you have produced), you realize it's time to start getting rid of your art because there is no more room to store them, your friends and family have their fill, and dang it all anyway, that closet full of mediums never seems to hit bottom. The bottom line is, "I hope I have more projects in mind and mediums to make them with in the closet than I do days to make them. I never want to run out. " Happy creating all.

Thanks Mz M. Well, I have a window I like to decorate in the winter so I can do fall things, christmas / snow things and hearts for valentines day (which I am currently working on plus some to donate to my Temple for fund raising). Then I have to fix a window that got hit by a branch and cracked. Have the glass and the idea for that one. Then I want to make some garden gates and fences. Also I have these ugly metal covers for the heat and I'd love to replace that with metal and art glass sculpture. I have a fence around an out door room that needs some sculpture, and I want to make a 6 foot head glass, copper and river stone fountain for the entry. If I get all that done I am sure there will be side projects too - learning curve and models before doing things of scale that will need homes. If I get good, who knows. I am having fun while my eyes and legs and back and hands are still good and hope to get many years in. It's fun, girly and super relaxing.
