NyteByker 535
Hi everyone! It's been an absolutely amazing first week with our little fuzz-ball! He is very easy to train and is probably the most hyper and feistiest puppy I have ever seen! When he plays fetch in the house, he runs so fast that all you see is a brown flash running towards the toy! He's pretty much house broken (we have the occasional accident... But he's only just shy of 9 weeks old), already sits on command, and when not distracted, has the lay down and stay commands. (I repeat... When NOT distracted, Lol). I am very happy with him. He does pretty well with walking on the leash (in our driveway) and is starting to grasp the concept of not pulling, and staying close to my left foot. My daughter loves to have him chase her around the perimeter of the house. He loves all of the attention from the neighborhood kids (I all of a sudden ended up babysitting six other children at the same time on Sunday... :-/ My daughter just turned 7 on Friday, and she was the 2nd oldest in this group of kids). Ranger Komi has become quite the popular "new guy" on our block! In the mornings, he loves to just sit and watch and learn about us crazy humans. He watches intently as people get out of their houses, into their cars, and drive away. He watches them drive off. The same goes for people on their bicycles. I carry him to my daughter's bus stop... I think he wonders why he can't get on the bus, too. He looks up at the sky and trees at all of the birds. He seems to think the airplanes are noisy birds. He hasn't quite figured out what shadows are. And he likes to try to stop the pinwheel in our garden from spinning in the wind. And he thinks the vacuum cleaner is a really cool toy! And... I think he gets mad at my weight set because whenever I finish lifting, he comes over to them and bites them and barks at them. ... Or maybe he wants to be able to lift them too... Who knows? He howled the first time he heard my daughter play the piano, and he barked at me when I played the flute. I translated that as my daughter plays nicely and I am horrible, Lol. ... But seriously, he likes music. I built a nice sized gate to keep him contained on my porch, but that only worked for a day, as he already jumped to catch the top of it with the tips of his paws, then used his rearblegs to climb over (I think I should take him with me on my next obstacle course race). I told Kim that I want a dog to be able to do lots of exercises with when he is old enough... I think his match making skills are nothing short of miraculous! Ranger Komi is definitely the pooch for me! Here are some pictures. -Carmen

NyteByker 535
Thank you!!! I sure will keep you updated... And will try my best to not be overwhelming, too! He's just too awesome!! First vet appt tomorrow. Can't wait! Â (I type in multiple paragraphs, but for some reason, they are switched to one big paragraph when I post... Must be a phone thing?...)
Greg 2,662
Thanks for the update. Â (I type in multiple paragraphs, but for some reason, they are switched to one big paragraph when I post... Must be a phone thing?...) In Internet Explorer, if you preview what you initially wrote, your post in the preview screen will look as you originally wrote it. If you post it from the preview screen, you will lose your formatting. After previewing, you would need to go back to the edit screen and redo the paragraphs. It can be a hassle for larger posts. I now use Google Chrome and I don't seem to have that problem any more.
Sherab 2,337
RE: paragraph lossage - Does that now for me all the time now. Just post, hit edit, save and hit the refresh button - everything will be parsed as per your original with 3 extra clicks (Allison we hijacked the thread....)
NyteByker 535
Thanks... I will try something different later. I do everything on my phone, so I don't have Internet Explorer...but the default is Google Chrome. No biggie. I'll play when I can! I'm off to go home to my little fuzzy wuzzy now!
Allison 2,369
From your phone, put an extra space or 2 (returns) between paragraphs, and you should have no problem. It is your phone's way of saving space. Â Also, people may have trouble downloading your phone pictures, as they are often full sized. I can scale them for you if it becomes a problem. Â I love him, already, little Ranger Komi. Did you choose his name from the game of "Go", or perhaps from the Fighting Ranger?
NyteByker 535
OK... In this response, I will try the triple spacing, posting, saving, editing and standing on my head and texting with my toes to see what happens. :-) Â Â Â Ranger Komi is so precious! He is already a head turner! I took him to the vet today to get micro chipped so I can hurry up and start the pet insurance, and to have his poop studied (my daughter thinks that is the funniest thing ever). Next set of shots is in the first week of June. The staff, most of whom had known me since I was 6, were crazy about him. I directed them all to SDK, Lol! Â Â Allison, my daughter and I made a huge list of American Indian Names back in October to see what we liked, and we both liked Nakoma. I see though that is a popular name. So at home we call him Nakoma (And Komi, And Geronimo, and Mister Big), but on this site (and registration) we will call him Ranger Komi (Ranger for my NY Rangers [Let's go, Rangers!!] And Komi for Nakoma). It doesn't really matter yet what we call him... I think he thinks his name is "no bite" or "Yayyyy poopie" (in the high pitch squeaky voice)! Â Â Â :-D

Chinatola 927
there's an echo in here!
NyteByker 535
Lol. I tried to post to edit to fix the spacing... And it ended up posting again... And I don't know how to delete it! Aye Caramba!!
Allison 2,369
So..... your triple spacing did not work. Â "Preview" is your next step. In "Preview" you can change and put spaces between paragraphs, etc. Â Phones do what they do, and try to save space. It is not as ideal as working from a PC. Â I can delete your second post, if you would like.
NyteByker 535
Phones... Love 'em... Hate 'em. Ranger Komi thinks mine is a chew toy. Lol. Yes, please delete the echo!!! Thanks, Allison!
Nanette 107
He howled the first time he heard my daughter play the piano, and he barked at me when I played the flute. I translated that as my daughter plays nicely and I am horrible, Lol. ... But seriously, he likes music. Elena is quite musical. When Clay plays guitar or Colton plays recorder, she will howl-sing on pitch with them. When Wyatt plays his violin, she will sit, watch, listen and bark if he stops...no singing...but she will sing with him when he pretends to put it away...funny girl...she just listens to piano...glad to read there are more song dogs out there! Watch out for kazoos, kids, and dogs...maybe I should bring some to the gathering...hmmm...Keep posting!
Sherab 2,337
If I were going I'd say YES to the Kazoos and film it! Sounds like a grand activity, as long as you pick the Kazoos up after a specified period of time.

NyteByker 535
So, they really ARE song dogs!!!! I love this! I haven't had him listen to my mom play her guitar yet. I wonder what would happen. I gotta bring him over to my parents' house just to see. (I can see how that conversation will go. "Hi Mom! Can I bring over [Ranger Komi] so you can play your guitar for him?" She already "wonders" about me... this request will be the icing on the cake." Haha). ... Â I love the Kazoo idea! You totally gotta try that at the gathering. To have a whole bunch of them sing together would be a great experience! Go for it! I won't be making it this year, but I'm sure somebody going can film it for us to watch!!!! Â And yes, nrrosque, our pups are brothers. Lol... they really are twins, aren't they? We are so lucky!!!
miz molly 1,800
A soft harmonica play helps the song fest get started too.
NyteByker 535
I think anyone at the gathering who can play an instrument or sing should set up a gig for the pups! :-)
nrrosque 232
Â And yes, nrrosque, our pups are brothers. Lol... they really are twins, aren't they? We are so lucky!!! Â Awesome! When I went to pick up Zephyr I thing yours was the other one I was considering - Kim said they were both a little more laid back. Wish I lived closer to his siblings so we could all get together!
NyteByker 535
I wish I lived closer to his siblings, too... Or even better, closer to SDK!! But my guy is anything BUT laid back, Lol. Especially when he argues with me! Lol. He always has to have the last word! He cracks me up!
