Lisa 130
I don't know if I would call this a "dog house" problem. Saturday my husband and I were gone off and on all day with committments. We couldn't take Hawk with us. Since he likes to jump fences when were gone and the shock collar does nothing for him we always tie him up. During the day he's fine. Just lays around and sleeps. We had to leave again in the evening for about an hour. When we returned he wasn't in his house or on the patio to great us. He was hiding behind our storage building. I figured he tried to chase a cat out of the yard and got wrapped around a tree. Didn't think anything of it until the next morning getting our paper in there was a note on the door. It was from a neighbor behind us. I guess they saw why Hawk was hiding. Apparently he decided he had enough being tied up. So it seems he tried to go over the fence. He got himself stuck and was hanging by his collar 3 feet off the ground. I think his guardian angel ( my old dog Ginger) was watching out for him. He apparently pushed himself loose. The only thing that I see on him is he scraped his leg pretty bad and it is slightly swollen. I felt sick to my stomach all day. I could have lost my boy. What is it with them and the need to escape. I usually keep him in the house if I am going to be gone a short period of time. I guess I learned my lesson. I hope some day he will outgrow this need to leave. Allison 2,369
Oh my dear! Oh! We have a neighbor whose dog hung himself, that way. We always leave Coyo inside, even if we are gone a long time. He is fine. He can wait, all day. I'm so glad he's alright, and thanks for telling us. Accidents happen, but these stories really stick in my mind, and help me make choices.
