Lisa 130
This saddens me to inform you that another furry member of our group has gone to his resting place in the sky. Some of you may remember Dave, he has Wakiza, Tola and Two Scoops. About 6 months ago Dave moved from Oregon to Florida to be closer to his parents. Everything had been going great until this week. Living next to Dave is/was a pack of 8 pitbulls. On July 4 Wakiza was attacked through the fence by 6 of those dogs. He subcumbed to his injuries and had to be put down. The neighbor took his 8 dogs in and had them all destroyed and is no longer aloud to have any animal. Unfortunetly Wakiza had to be the one to suffer for this man's ingnorance. Just wanted you to know and maybe send "good' smoke to him, he needs it now as do Tola and Two Scoops who will not go outside now.

judyk 43
That is so horrible. Please send Dave my heartfelt condolences. I am sure he is devastated. I am so very sorry to hear of Dave's tragedy. He has to be absolutely heartbroken. It's a darn good thing that the neighbor stepped up and took care of his problem before Dave stepped up for him. Wakiza was definitely Dave's true buddy. Please extend my sympathy to Dave. I can't imagine .... I just can't. Judy K in Michigan
Marina 0
That is truly tragic and shitty and I won't let myself imagine how he must feel. I have met Dave a couple of times and understand a little what his dogs mean to him. Wow. Marina in Portland, OR

He said if it was our dog he would have been next door with his 22 taking care of the problem himself. Judy in Michigan

I'm perplexed by the fact that a city would permit a resident to even have six or eight pitbulls. They fight among themselves and when all that anger is being displayed they naturally are going to go after another animal. Poor Wakiza.
liz 9
My heartfelt sorrow that this could happen too. Shunka has been attacked by German Shepherds and Labradors- must be his fault he does look like a wolf! So many dog owners don't take full responsibility for their dogs and this is what happens. There is a falicey over here because he is an american dog he must be vicious! Why do people have pitbulls? Over here Staffordshire bull-terriers are being bred by people and bought by those who want to look tough. We have some terrible breeders in the UK and it worries me now that the Innuit dog is being sold and bred as the best dog for anyone who has a family and wants a family pet. It is the fastest 'growing' breed here in the South-West and once a breed gets being bred for 'money' you get close breeding etc etc. Once again, I am so sorry, it is something that shouldn't have happened if the other dogs had been kept safely in by a responsible owner. People here have pit bulls for the same reasons, to look tough, or, to discourage people from getting near places where illegal activities are taking place. Or dog fighting. But there are a few out there who are good owners, and their pits are good dogs. I have seen the aftermath of a pit bull attack on a few dogs (including my old doberman), luckily they survived but only because my mom was brave enough to intervene. Cassie was attacked on the street by a loose pit bull, she was not hurt, but the horror I felt when it happened - I can only imagine how much worse it was for Dave. I hope not to read any more stories like that, with AI dogs or non-AI dogs alike, but unfortunately, there are a lot of irresponsible pit bull owners out there. Michelle 1
I forgot to add - it's not just pit bulls. Last year, three cattle dogs mauled a guy walking down a road little ways from where I live. I don't remember how it turned out, but I think the guy wasn't too badly injured.
