Just recently Hawk decided when I take him out at night for a potty run that he isn't ready to come in when I want him too. This is when he turns a "deaf ear" Last night or should I say morning (2 a.m.) he needed to go out. He proceed to spend the next 10 min. ignoring my demands to come in. I finally had to trick him into coming to me by saying we were going for a "walk"! What a pill!!! I think next time I will put him on his leach and walk out in the yard with him and not give him the opportunity to ignor me.

Lisa,

We use the leash quite a bit to avoid this "not coming" when called. We use this primarily to take him to the "designated elimination spot!"

They can be such stinkers sometimes. I have used the "kibble bowl shake" to get Jake back in the house.

Here is my recommendation:

Do not call more than once or twice. The more you call, the more opportunities they have to ignore you.

At night, when Coyo does not want to come back in, I pull out the flashlight. It is clearly a game, we both know the rules...but it works every time. He chases it right back inside. It is a ritual, that he enjoys, and so do I.
