Arya Tokala

Recommended Posts

Its been awhile since we have been on the forum. We would like to share our summer fun and show off our girl. We knew that we loved the name Arya. After further research, we found that Arya means; noble or honorable. So now it was time to find her middle name. After even more research, we decided upon Tokala which means; Fox. So Arya Tokala it is, or Noble Fox.

We brought Arya home after school let out in June. Since then, she has enjoyed many trips. O"Dell Lake, IMG_5967.JPG Riley Ranch, IMG_6197.PNG, Winchester, Union Creek, and Florence. She is not a fan of the water. We did make an emergency trip to Home Depot one evening for fencing material when Arya decided to run across the pool with the cover on. We now have a fence up to keep her away from the pool.

Arya loves hiking, IMG_6316.PNG car rides, walks around the neighborhood, and short runs. She is up to two miles so far, before she is too tuckered out. IMG_6201.JPG

Her favorite activity is meeting up with Inca a couple times a week for a play date where chase they run and chase the ball. IMG_6221.JPG Inca is so patient with Arya and a great teacher. IMG_6195.PNG

When we are not out camping or playing, she loves her giggle ball. FullSizeRender (2).jpg

I have gone back to work since school has started back up. Arya has had a tough time with this as I have been home with her since the beginning. She actually howls, which I am sure our neighbors just love. Good thing she is cute.

Arya last weekend after her bath. Such a big girl now. IMG_6290.PNG

Such a pretty girl. Like the pictures too.

We scoured the internet for Native American names for Ayita. We liked the sound of Ayita. It means "first to dance." Sometimes her fancy footwork actually looks a lot like dancing :) . Second name we chose Unatsi, which means "snow." We picked her up in November, so we have First to Dance (in the) Snow.

Kaposia is the name of a park where I spent many, many happy hours as a child playing in the stream, climbing up and down the ravine walls, and munching on sack lunches...dreaming the day away. Kaposia Park is in South St. Paul, Minnesota, and it is on the site of what was Chief Little Crow's Summer village along the Mississippi River. Kaposia means "light weight" because the Kaposia band of the Dakota Sioux had the reputation of "traveling light." I know what you mean about name selection not being easy, sheeshsmith, I had list after list of possibilities, and you have to wonder about the authenticity and accuracy of some of the sources on line. When you find the right name, you'll know it.

My sister knew what she was going to name whether the pup be a boy or girl. She had dreamed a name for each.

I looked for names that embodied the personality I was looking for.

Tayamni has an unregistered second name.

Her first name is in Lakota (I'm hunka) and her second name is in Maori (have some ancestry) . Both names have sky origin.

Go figure, I'm a Gemini! LOL!!!!!!

Arya is lovely. How much does she weigh now?

Sheeshsmith enjoy this time with no name. It's hard to stop the names once they start. Cake is registered as Aurora Khandro (aurora sky dancer) but we call her Cake, dolly, cake-dolly, Kelp and Kelpie kelp (Try shouting aurora with a mouth full of peanut butter and you will know why she doesn't know that name). Waki is only Waki in writing. We never call him that. He was originally Tulku parrot-grape. His registry name is Wakinyan Dorje and we call him Wakinyan (wah-kee-yah), parrot, beetle and lately "My name is Cheese". Good luck and remember no one has claimed Goofball in the registry.

Yes, she is from Heather and Rogue Rocky. She weighed in at 21.6 lbs 1 1/2 weeks ago. So maybe 22 or 23 now. We went out for a little over 2 miles run this evening. She did so well. I would love to see current pics of Fenris.

I loved your pics and story of Arya T. Wow! How fast she grew! Great that you got to spend so much time with her.

I'm guessing the giggle ball makes noises?

Yes. Every time it rolls, a new giggle noise sounds. It's pretty funny to listen to it.

Arya lost a tooth today. I'm not sure if it was her first one, but it's the first one we have seen. Baby girl is growing up.
