Karen 41
And look at those ears! All the better to hear you with..... It's too bad they kind of grow into their ears. They are so cute when they are top-heavy like this.

Andrew & Stephanie 0
Thanks so much for your kind compliments! My husband and I could not love Eli more. They have a way of weaving themselves into your heart, don't they? He completed basic puppy training at 6 months and got his CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certification at 9 months. He's now about 10 months old and weighs 45.8 lbs and is one giant ball of energy! We are still unsure of how tall he'll get. My in-laws have an AIDog who is very tall and lean (love the build!) but Eli is still pretty short. I saw photos of Eli's father (Jay) who appeared shorter than other males in the photos on the website. Anyone have some insight as to what age these pups stop growing? Or any recommendations for puppy-age food?
Starghoti 466
He is a beauty. Love those Ears! So wonderful at that stage If it makes you feel better, our guy- Jasper is only about 38 lbs and just over a year old. Don't know how tall he is, but he is a tad taller than his "sister" who is a BC cross and weighs 47 lbs. Guess it depends on the lines.

Our puppy, who's 11months old, is extremely lean and tall. He weighs 42 lbs. and is over 21 inches, I think!!!! He is much taller than the other six AIDs we've had. He's from Sonoma and Rowdy. From our experience we found that they were done growing and filling out, generally, by age 2. We only fed 'puppy' kibble to our pups for a few weeks and weaned them onto what the others have eaten. I believe the reason he seems shorter as is my grandog Chief is that Jay's mom Abbey had a shorter build. My Hawk is Jay's uncle and Hawk is very tall and slender. Enjoy that bundle of energy! Most height is gained by 1 year but during the second year, they get their full growth and weight. Any good quality dog food will work but obviously keep away from the 'Old Roy' category and especially away from anything with mostly grains as their food source. I've used both the Chicken Soup brand and Solid Gold with good results but hear that Blue Buffalo is excellent too. She's a beautiful dog - I like that 'robbers' mask' description too! I've heard similar feedback that the pups keep growing past their first year but here's the question, when does the energy level taper off? My husband and I love that Eli is happy to see us when we get home but having people come over or having a pizza delivers requires serious patience from everyone and forewarning to others. His tail wags like a helicopter propeller, he paces, runs around the room, and jumps all over everyone. It takes him less time to settle down now than it did about 4 months ago but it's still embarrassing. Any helpful info? It's too bad they kind of grow into their ears. They are so cute when they are top-heavy like this. Eli is now 11 months old and still has not grown into his ears, I hope he never does because it's just so adorable. He gets lots of compliments on his ears! haha We are still using puppy food but cut back the amount last month. We alternate between Solid Gold and Bill Jack. It has made his coat so much shinier! Thanks everyone for the comments and helpful info
miz molly 1,800
My husband and I love that Eli is happy to see us when we get home but having people come over or having a pizza delivers requires serious patience from everyone and forewarning to others. His tail wags like a helicopter propeller, he paces, runs around the room, and jumps all over everyone. Leash/sit, hands and knees time til he understands that jumping up on people is NOT acceptable. When I come home, as I open the door, I always get on my hands and knees. I am on his physical level, and there is no reason to jump up. This produces an amazing welcoming from the pup that is so pup like. When my friends come to visit,I put on the leash and make him sit before I open the door. He got it, and now there is no jumping and no leash....however I still get on my hands and knees when I come home, just to keep it reinforced, plus I just love the way he greets me when I am on all fours. Good luck.
maria 182
I agree miz molly! Chhaya and Koda greet me at that door too if Ken is home and they aren't in their kennels....I at least bend down if I'm not on my hands and knees....I get lots of kisses and howls and singing (from Chhaya) and barks (from Koda)....I think they miss me just a tad when I'm gone! Makes me feel great! Must be doing something right! I have them trained now to sit and stay till our company comes in...they are doing well.....the key is making sure you do it EVERY time you get company!
