linda 19
We're going out to buy her first pack of cigs, to celebrate! The tests also revealed that she has roundworm AND giardia. Hopefully none of the other puppies have those nasties too. She's quite perky considering all of her ailments! Jerry malachi had the giardia he had to take med for one week he did it well seems a few of the pups had weird worm parasite or at least I never heard of some of them but mal is fine full of energy
DebiSlaughter 9
Don't get me wrong, she is a wild thing, and a mischievous one at that. She's especially bitey in the morning and early evening. At any time, she will steal our shoes, cloths, and most favorably, the cat toys. She stealthily takes them under the couch for systematic destruction. Luckily, we keep a close eye on her, and the destruction factor has been low. But in the late morning and afternoons, the sweetness comes out, and she will come to us and snuggle up, lick us, and tell us she loves us in her own special way. Ah...another thief dog! Soul still does this -but now he shows what he is stealing to us before he takes off with it. If we could stop laughing long enough, we might be able to break him of it! She'll get there. One thing that is amazing as how big of a change you can see on a daily basis. We were all down with the stomach flu last week and Soul was the best behaved dog I have ever owned. He went 4 days without a walk and did not terrorize one thing in the house! Glad to hear she (and your family) are "getting" it!
Jerry 7
This isn't a recent photo, but I have been enjoying it so much, I feel I have to share. Jerry 7
A thousand views of this topic? What's up with that? What can I say, she's a popular girl. OK, at least 500 of those views are from me. Lola is 3 months old today. She has been great lately; very sweet. She is just growing like a weed. She is 15.6 lbs and 15" tall at the shoulder. I took Lola into the redwoods below our house today and took some good photos. She just loves being off leash in the forest. Edited February 15, 2010 by Jerry

Allison 2,369
Sitka has them often, too. Just gulping air, and moving too fast after eating, I think. They don't last long.

I do know I check all new postings out of curiosity and hopefully knowledge. I only speak for myself. I bet I've checked this site and all sites once a day. Sometimes comment, sometimes not. I guess there are lots of us who are doing this is my guess.......
Jerry 7
Lola is 5 months old today, so I figured I give an official update and a bunch of pictures. Adolescence has arrived in full force. Her adult teeth are coming in, and there's a hint of defiance. Our incident at the school today (posted on Soul's stream) is a perfect example. Lola is also becoming extremely agile, and our frequent walks in the woods are becoming a lot of fun. It's probably her favorite thing. There's no need for a leash out there (except for the law which disregard). She stays relatively close, comes when called (most of the time), and is courteous to the many other dogs and humans we encounter. She just loves walking over logs. This is a good thing, because she will not set one paw in the water. My last dog would swim across any river rather than walk on a log. I'm planning a backpacking trip this May, and she will have to get across the streams somehow. So now we're training. Her best friend is probably Nibbles (our 1 year old cat). I wish I had a cleaner photo of the two of them. Lola is constantly chasing Nibbles and malling her when she catches her. Lola will chew and slobber on the cat like a plush toy. It seems way too rough, but when we remove Lola, Nibbles comes looking for her. Go figure. Lola's energy level and disposition has turned out perfect for our family. We weren't so sure a couple of months ago, but Kim called it correctly. She doesn't listen to our daughter, but at least she is sweet to her and no longer terrifies her. Lola is a slippery and manipulative little bugger as seems to be the case with most of these dogs. It makes training and discipline a challenge, and we have to walk the fine line of "tough love", but we're figuring it out.
Todd 1
hey Jerry Lola has really turned into a nice looking puppy! Glad to hear things are going good for you. Yolo was very cautious around water at that age but did get over it as she got older. I'm sure you will see the same thing. Figuring it out is part of the journey. Thanks for the update and pictures! I especially like the picture on top of the picnic table. I know what you mean by "fine line of tough love." It sure is a test of wills during that time. I was relieved to see that the rough demanding of things gradually turned into the gentle asking of things. Alas we had reached our agreements. Maybe its just that I understood Tolinka and he understood me better. Stick to your guns, its all about gentle repetition. At 10 months I can actually say that Tolinka has turned into the most gentle, and responsive and sweetest dog I have ever had....and at my age, I have had lots. These AID's are definitely the BEST!, challenging as you say, but what you get on the other end, just can't be beat. Have fun.

Lola is such a beautiful girl! and thats funny that you mention logs - Mica loves them! the photo below is when he followed me over this branch when we were crossing a creek, his balance was incredible, he was about 14 weeks here. He is also very agile. But he does seem to like the water up to the top of his legs, and thats as far as he'll venture at the moment. I love all the beautiful large trees in the forests where you go walking. it looks magical, and Lola just fits right in. Mica is also pretty good at coming off leash, in fact he's doing really well off leash. but he is definitely trying to test me constantly now! Keep the updates coming. Allison 2,369
Lola is a fantastic looking gal. Every so often, Kim says to me, "Why didn't I keep that one?" I think he is going to be saying that about Lola. And D, little Mica on that log with the water rushing underneath....that is a terrific photo. Happy 5 months to Lola and your whole family. DebiSlaughter 9
Love the updates and the pictures! She looks like Soul in the one with the cat. Amazing how her colors are changing - and the face...WOW - she is a cutie pie! Soul loves the forest too and we are now able to walk most without the lead. There is one area that is close to houses and he wants to run over to meet their dogs - so we now stop and he gets put back on...which he really doesn't mind - as long as he can get into the logs! I swear he's part anteater! Keep the updates coming! I think between Soul's posts and Lola's post - there may be records being broken! Bwahahaha...social beings, they are! It's really fun to see. I took Lola Surfing this morning (she didn't actually go in the water). I got a good one of her on the pier. Karen 41
I just wish more people were sharing their dogs' progress. It's really fun to see. All right, all right. It's been quite awhile since I posted any photos of Danza. I took some yesterday in the forest by the creek in our "yard", but I left the camera on the setting I'm using for food photos, so she's a blur. It's appropriate, though, since that's her usual mode down by the creek. She jumps right in and splashes around. I'm surprised she doesn't cut her feet on the mussel shells in the creeks bed. She enjoys eating the eel grass. And then some more conventional photos.
